{"id":1264,"date":"2019-01-02T11:28:53","date_gmt":"2019-01-02T11:28:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/?page_id=1264"},"modified":"2021-05-11T23:22:21","modified_gmt":"2021-05-11T23:22:21","slug":"beach-official-rules-and-forms","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/beach-official-rules-and-forms\/","title":{"rendered":"BEACH OFFICIAL RULES AND FORMS"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><div class=\"title\">\n<div class=\"avc_new_title\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col\">\n<div class=\"new_msg_com\">\n<div class=\"msg_top\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/old-2018\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/FIVB-BeachVolleyball_Rules_2017-2020-EN-v05.pdf\">FIVB Official Beach Volleyball Rules 2017-2020<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/old-2018\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/2015-Beach-Volleyball-Rules-Casebook.pdf\">Beach Volleyball Rules Casebook (2015)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"msg_con\">\n<p><strong>Basic Beach Volleyball Rules<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rule differences between beach and indoor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beach volleyball is fundamentally similar to indoor volleyball: a team scores points by grounding the ball on the opponents&#8217; court, or when the opposing team commits a fault (error or illegal action); consecutive contacts must be made by different players.<\/p>\n<p>The major differences between beach and indoor volleyball are:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u25cf Playing surface \u2013 sand rather than hard court.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf The dimensions of the court are 16 by 8 meters, compared to 18 by 9 meters in the indoor game.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf The beach court has no &#8220;attack line&#8221;, unlike the indoor court, which has such a line 3 meters from the net.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Team size \u2013 two rather than six, with no substitutions allowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Scoring system \u2013 best of 3 sets played to 21 (15 for a deciding set) rather than best of 5 to 25.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Overhand touches and tips \u2013 open-hand dinks are illegal.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf A block at the net counts as one of the three allowed touches in the beach game, but not in the indoor game.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Open-hand setting standards are different in the beach game \u2013double hitting is called tighter but lifts are slightly more lenient.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Coaching during matches is not allowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf There are no rotation errors on the beach \u2013 players may switch sides at will.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf It is legal to cross under the net in beach volleyball as long as it does not interfere with opponents&#8217; play.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Teams switch ends of the court every seven points, rather than between sets.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf There is no Libero in beach like there is in indoor.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The only similarity in the courts used in the two forms of volleyball is the net.
