Set to host the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.volleyballworld.com\/volleyball\/competitions\/women-world-championship\">FIVB World Championship<\/a> in just over two months, the Asians want to make the most of the opportunity of playing the top teams in the world in the VNL as they prepare to display solid volleyball in front of their home fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe VNL is very important for us as it helps us prepare for the World Championship,\u201d the star opposite reflected. \u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity for us to play the best teams in the world. Poland are always tough opponents because they have a very good team and some really tall players, so we just tried to fight as much as we could.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>T\u00fcrkiye triumph in the opening match<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The opening match of the VNL 2025 had European champions T\u00fcrkiye coming out on top in a continental duel against France. The Turkish managed to overcome an inconsistent performance in the second set to take the match <a href=\"https:\/\/en.volleyballworld.com\/volleyball\/competitions\/volleyball-nations-league\/schedule\/21553?match=France-vs-T%c3%bcrkiye\">3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-13, 25-14)<\/a> and start their campaign with a positive result.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DKd-OKFy2X1\/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DKd-OKFy2X1\/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not having their main scorers Melissa Vargas, Ebrar Karakurt and Zehra G\u00fcne\u015f this week in China, the team coached by Daniele Santarelli saw 23-year-old middle blocker Deniz Uyan\u0131k step up with a 16-point performance, produced with eight kills, an impressive seven blocks and one ace.<\/p>\n<p>One of the new faces in the team in 2025, opposite Alexia Karutasu added another 15 (11 kills, three aces, one block), while outside hitter Yaprak Erkek registered 14 (13 kills, one ace) and middle blocker Asl\u0131 Kala\u00e7 tallied 13 (eight kills, three blocks, two aces).<\/p>\n<p>Building a new team after making their Olympic debut last year in Paris, the French saw 23-year-old opposite Iman Ndiaye deliver a strong performance, leaving the court with 19 points (17 kills, two blocks).<\/p>\n<p><b>China have a strong debut<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The third and last match of the day in Beijing had the debut of hosts China, and the Asians didn\u2019t disappoint, handling Belgium in straight sets and pleasing their home fans. Playing at a strong level from start to finish, the home team triumphed <a href=\"https:\/\/en.volleyballworld.com\/volleyball\/competitions\/volleyball-nations-league\/schedule\/21555?match=China-vs-Belgium\">3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-13)<\/a> and secured their first victory under the guidance of new head coach Zhao Yong.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DKen-AjhJ1a\/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DKen-AjhJ1a\/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A member of the Chinese national team during last year\u2019s Paris Olympics, outside hitter Wu Mengjie played a major role in their victory, leading the team against Belgium with 18 points (15 kills, two blocks, one ace). Fellow outside hitter Zhuang Yushan and opposite and team captain Gong Xiangyu also had solid displays, with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
