{"id":53649,"date":"2020-08-10T15:25:56","date_gmt":"2020-08-10T15:25:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/?p=53649"},"modified":"2020-08-11T03:16:43","modified_gmt":"2020-08-11T03:16:43","slug":"iran-volleyball-league-new-season-to-start-on-sept-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/iran-volleyball-league-new-season-to-start-on-sept-9\/","title":{"rendered":"IRAN VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE NEW SEASON TO START ON SEPT 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><p>Bangkok, Thailand, August 10, 2020 &#8211; The 2020-21 Iran Volleyball Super League will start on September 9, with a total of 14 teams taking part in the new season, Shahram Azimi, Director of Competition and Events of Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation, was quoted as saying in a press release on iranvolleyball.com.<\/p>\n<p>The draw ceremony was held at the Iran\u2019s National Olympic and Paralympic Academy in Tehran on Monday in an online format.<\/p>\n<p>The matches will be held in two rounds of preliminary and playoffs. In the preliminary round, the competition will be played in a two-legged system.\u00a0The top eight teams will qualify for the playoffs round.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian Super League (ISL) is a professional volleyball league in Iran at the top of the Iranian Volleyball League system. It was founded in 1975 as the Pasargard Cup, but after the Iranian Revolution it was renamed to the First Division. In 1997, the league system was revamped and the Iranian Super League was established.<\/p>\n<p>Paykan Tehran, which have captured the Asian Men\u2019s Club Championship for 7 times including 6 in a row (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011), have won 12, the most titles in the new Super League.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2017-2018 season, Khatam Ardakan finished runners-up to Sarmayeh Bank in the Iran Super League, but have taken over the baton from fellow-Iranian club Sarmayeh Bank as Asian Club champions after they defeated Kazakhstan\u2019s Atyrau in straight sets in the final showdown of the 2018 Asian Men\u2019s Club Championship in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.<\/p>\n<p>Shahrdari Varamin captured the Iran Super League title in the 2018-2019 season, with Saipa Tehran in second place.
