Gra\u00e7a F\u00b0 on Monday welcomed the President of the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Seiko Hashimoto, to Ariake Arena, the breath-taking Olympic volleyball venue.<\/p>\n<p>Tokyo 2020 President Hashimoto attended the Japan women\u2019s national volleyball team\u2019s high-stakes final pool match against the Dominican Republic. The host nation needed a win to secure a place in the knock out stages of the competition. The Japan team were unfortunately unable to emulate the gold medal success of their 1960s counterparts, losing 10-25, 23-25, 25-19 and 19-25, but they left it all out on court in their final match of Tokyo 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The FIVB President thanked Tokyo 2020 President Hashimoto for the dedication of the Japanese parties to hosting a safe and secure Olympic Games in a time of unprecedented challenges. He also praised the exceptional quality of the venues and the flawless organisation of the volleyball and beach volleyball events.<\/p>\n<p>The FIVB President said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was an honour to welcome Tokyo 2020 President Hashimoto to the beautiful Ariake Arena. I must thank Tokyo 2020, the other Japanese parties and the IOC for their tireless efforts in organising a fantastic Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Japan women\u2019s team may not have made it to the knockout stages of the tournament, but they clearly displayed incredible resilience and fighting spirit in all their matches.
