{"id":71570,"date":"2021-11-23T16:25:50","date_gmt":"2021-11-23T16:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/?p=71570"},"modified":"2021-11-23T16:25:50","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T16:25:50","slug":"kazakhstans-altay-sign-short-term-deal-for-club-worlds-with-de-la-cruz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/kazakhstans-altay-sign-short-term-deal-for-club-worlds-with-de-la-cruz\/","title":{"rendered":"KAZAKHSTAN\u2019S ALTAY SIGN SHORT-TERM DEAL FOR CLUB WORLDS WITH DE LA CRUZ"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">The Dominican star will strengthen the team from Kazakhstan in Ankara<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">De La Cruz is fresh from her second Olympic appearance in Tokyo<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Set to make their second appearance in the competition at the FIVB Volleyball Women\u2019s Club World Championship from December 15-19 in Ankara, Turkey, Kazakhstan\u2019s Altay Club have added a fair amount of experience and power to their squad ahead of the tournament with the signing of Dominican star Bethania De La Cruz.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One of the most powerful offensive players in international volleyball, the 34-year-old De La Cruz has agreed on a short-team deal with the reigning Asian champions for next month\u2019s tournament.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CWfy5wpKL4-\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=c83877d0-b360-403d-9776-2816718c0447\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CWfy5wpKL4-\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=c83877d0-b360-403d-9776-2816718c0447<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A two-time Olympian, De La Cruz has been a staple for the Dominican Republic national team since 2005. The 1.83m-tall outside hitter led her country to an eighth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics and to their best-ever result at the FIVB Volleyball Nations League, finishing sixth, earlier this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">De La Cruz has played in a Club World Championship once before, in 2010, when she helped the Dominican Republic\u2019s Mirador finish fourth. She has also played professionally in Puerto Rico, Japan, Korea, Turkey, Russia, Italy, Indonesia and the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cA new opportunity of doing what I love and enjoy,\u201d she wrote in an Instagram post. \u201cSee you soon, Club World Championship.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CWlWhURIMQq\/\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CWlWhURIMQq\/<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Dominican star will be one of three international players in the Kazakh team&#8217;s roster.
