{"id":81224,"date":"2022-06-14T16:01:30","date_gmt":"2022-06-14T16:01:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/?p=81224"},"modified":"2022-06-14T16:12:37","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T16:12:37","slug":"avc-ba-member-and-va-president-craig-carracher-recognised-in-queens-birthday-honours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/avc-ba-member-and-va-president-craig-carracher-recognised-in-queens-birthday-honours\/","title":{"rendered":"AVC BA MEMBER AND VA PRESIDENT CRAIG CARRACHER RECOGNISED IN QUEEN\u2019S BIRTHDAY HONOURS"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Credit: AVC press release and volleyball.org.au<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Bangkok, Thailand, June 14, 2022 &#8211; On behalf of the Asian and Oceanian Volleyball Family, we would like to convey our warmest congratulations to Volleyball Australia President Mr Craig Carracher, himself FIVB and AVC Board of Administration Member, on his recognition in this year\u2019s Queen\u2019s Birthday Honours, as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Australia has been at the helm of the Asian Beach Volleyball Committee (as Mr Craig himself Chairman of the Committee and Member of the FIVB Beach Volleyball Commission) and for five years had served Oceania as President of Oceania Volleyball introducing Oceania to FIVB again through strong advocacy and support for hosting major events in Oceania and growing the Pacific Islands so that they now deliver their own leadership in the market for world volleyball.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Under his leadership, Australia has worked closely with FIVB, Asian Volleyball Confederation, and the leaders of each other Confederation and many Zonal and National Volleyball Presidents. Australia was blessed to be supported by USA Volleyball (through Lori Okimura as President), Canadian Volleyball, and was very closely supported by Vanuatu Volleyball President and New Zealand volleyball during this period of international focus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-81225\" src=\"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/craigcarracher-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/craigcarracher-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/craigcarracher-768x433.jpg 768w, https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/craigcarracher-580x327.jpg 580w, https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/craigcarracher-500x282.jpg 500w, https:\/\/asianvolleyball.net\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/craigcarracher.jpg 799w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Mr Craig is a very determined and dedicated leader. In his message to the global volleyball family in 2019, he has expressed his sincere gratitude to all that has given full support over the past six years for their relentless and successful advancement of volleyball and sustainable development of the game in global level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAs a volleyballer for life, my commitment is to support our great game in any way we can from such a long distance away as Australia. We thank the President of FIVB, AVC and all Confederations and the FIVB Executive Board Members. These are very difficult jobs and it is always easy to criticise as we are all so passionate. Also, I am critical for change and improvement but I am thankful for the commitment and the passion,\u201d Mr Craig was quoted as saying in his speech conveyed to the global volleyball family in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">On this auspicious occasion that Mr Craig has been recognised in Queen\u2019s Birthday Honours, VA CEO Andrew Dee also said highly of him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">As Volleyball Australia President since 2013 and a Member of the AOC Executive, Mr Craig has been recognised for his exceptional service and commitment to volleyball in Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cCraig\u2019s passion and lifetime commitment to volleyball has seen the sport continue to grow through participation pathways, high performance programs and the opportunity to host world-class volleyball events across multiple states in Australia,\u201d said VA CEO Andrew Dee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cOn behalf of VA, I congratulate Craig on this well-deserved honour, recognising his invaluable contributions to develop our sport.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">President of the AOC, Ian Chesterman, also congratulated Mr Carracher.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cCraig has passionately focused on growing the sport of volleyball through participation pathways that link the game\u2019s grassroots to the potential for Olympic representation.
