Bangkok, Thailand, March 18, 2015 – The Pre-IRCC/AVC Referee Course, which has initially planned to take place from May 6 to 10 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, will be shifted to be held in Bangkok instead.

The Myanmar Volleyball Federation had actually managed to hold the Pre-International Referee Candidates Course/Referee Course in Nay Pyi Taw in conjunction with the first Asian Men’s U23 Volleyball Championship during May 12 and 20.

As only two foreign airlines are operated for scheduled flights in the Myanmar capital, to make the participants more convenient on their travelling for fear that less attention from the referees will be paid to the course due to the inconvenient flight arrangement, Myanmar has been asked to shift the host city from Nay Pyi Taw to Rangoon.

However, the MVF has recently informed AVC in an effort of clearing all the matters that the shift cannot be made because all of the working staff will be in Nay Pyi Taw at the first week of May in preparation for hosting the Asian Men’s U23 meet. Moreover, the MVF has also asked the AVC to cancel holding the course in Nay Pyi Taw.

The AVC has eventually decided to hold the Pre-IRCC/Referee Course in Bangkok, Thailand from May 4 to 8 instead. At the conclusion of the five-day course, some referees nominated as the accompany referees to work in the Asian Men’s U23 meet will be travelling to Nay Pyi Taw the following day.

According to the AVC Referees Committee Chairman Mr Songsak Chareonpong, the objective of this course is to update all knowledge and refereeing techniques for all Asian referees, to support the National Federations which have a small number of International Referees and to prepare all referees who would like to attend the International Referee Candidate Course in the near future. By taking part in the course, the Candidate Referee can participate in the Asian Championship as the accompany referee and the team need not pay the fines up to US$2,000.

For those who are interested to take part in the course, submission of the course participants (two from each National Federation) should be made before April 20. AVC will be responsible for accommodation subsidies which include a twin room with full board for two participants from each National Federation, while the two instructors’ international transportation and per diem will be also at the AVC’s expense.
