Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 7, 2015 – FIVB President Dr. Ary Graça S. F ° spoke today of his excitement as the world celebrated one year to go until Rio 2016 where volleyball and beach volleyball together account for the second highest ticket Sales for the Games.
After launching the official test events for Rio 2016 with a highly successful FIVB Volleyball World League Final at the Maracanazinho Stadium last month, anticipation for the Games is at an all-time high within the global volleyball family as They await the return of the sport to its spiritual home for what will be the greatest celebration of the sport in Olympic history.
FIVB President Graça, who was in Rio this week during the one year to go festivities, said:
“This is an incredibly exciting time for the volleyball family as we look ahead to Rio in 2016 – when fans from around the world will descend on the famous Copacabana Beach and Maracanazinho Stadium to experience what will be the most inspirational volleyball tournament of all time.
“The stage is already set at the historic Maracanazinho Stadium and rapid progress is being made at Copacabana Beach – Which in one year will host a fantastic spectacle for athletes and fans in the most iconic Olympic setting.
“I look forward to welcoming generations of fans as volleyball and beach volleyball take sportsentertainment to a Whole New Level – bringing a taste of Brazilian carnival to the 2016 Olympic Games.”
