Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, November 18, 2015 – Seven board members have been selected in a special AVC Board of Administration meeting on Wednesday, chaired by AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser, to represent AVC in the FIVB Board of Administration.
However, the newly re-elected AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser from Saudi Arabia has emerged as the automatic FIVB Board of Administration, resulting only six to be elected out of 20 members from the AVC Board of Administration meeting. Only Vietnamese Tran Duc Phan was missing from the meeting.
According to the election results achieved in the special meeting, the six AVC Board of Administration members elected to make a major step into the FIVB Board of Administration included three newcomers. They are Mr Ibrahim A. Malik Mohammed from the UAE, Iran’s Dr. M.R. Davarzani and Mr Hugh Graham from Cook Islands. Mrs Rita Subowo from Indonesia became the lone female candidate from AVC for the FIVB Board of Administration, while Mr Waleed A. Aman from Kuwait has been elected the AVC Auditor.
After the special meeting was concluded, the AVC Board of Administration members came up to the stage and AVC President Dr Saleh A. Bin Nasser informed the Assembly attendants that Mr Essa Hamza and Mrs Rita Subowo were elected two AVC executive vice-presidents.
Chairmen of eight Technical Committees were also chosen on the same occasion. Within a maximum two months, Dr Saleh said, these eight chairmen have to write him a proposal about the line-up of members in their respective committees. After that, an executive board committee will call a meeting to approve or deny those proposals from chairman of each committee.
AVC First Executive Vice President Mr Essa Hamza later announced the names of the zonal executive vice presidents of all AVC’s five zones as follows. Mr Cai Yi from China is Zonal Executive Vice President for Eastern Zone, Mr Shanrit Wongprasert from Thailand is Zonal Executive Vice President for Southeastern Zone, Mr Craig Carracher the Zonal Executive Vice President for Oceania, Mr Ibrahim A. Malik Mohammed from the UAE the Zonal Executive Vice President for Western Zone and Mr Chaudhary Avadhesh Kumar from India the Zonal Executive Vice President for Central Zone. The mentioned names got an approval from the Assembly meeting.
In terms of the AVC Board members who have been elected for the FIVB Board of Administration, FIVB and AVC Honorary Life President Mr Wei Jizhong explained the meeting how was the procedure to afford six AVC Board members.
“According to the FIVB Constitution’s quotas, AVC have seven board members. The AVC President is automatic member of FIVB Board, while six members have to be selected. AVC decided Mrs Rita Subowo to run as the female candidate of the FIVB Board of Association. The six AVC Board members elected the FIVB Board of Administration comprise Mr Essa Hamza from Kuwait, Mr Ibrahim A. Malik Mohammed from the UAE, Mr Cai Yi from China, Mr Shanrit Wongprasert from Thailand, Mr Hugh Graham from Cook Islands and Dr M.R. Davarzani from Iran.
The Assembly attendants also agreed unanimously to get all of them approved.
“It’s my pleasure to ask great President Dr Ary Graca to make a speech because we always listen to him for the future of development of this continent,” Dr Saleh invited the FIVB President for a speech.
“I’m very happy to see that in AVC, there was a complete democracy. Every duty will be decided by votes. I’m pleased to see how AVC is a nice confederation. It’s important to develop volleyball. I would like to say that i feel comfortable talking to you or being together with you. From now on ,we will work very hard together for volleyball. FIVB will be here with all of you to help. Let make a big effort to find resolution together. Last but not least, congratulations to the AVC President, AVC Board of Administration and all members.
