Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, August 21 – Myanmar has geared up its preparation for hosting the 2016 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship from August 23 to 31, with the first joint meeting being held on Sunday.
The bilateral meeting between the Control Committee and local organizing committee was held in an effort of checking the possible readiness of the host country ahead of the staging of the 2016 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, the Asian qualifying tournament to seek the winning team to represent Asia in the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship in Betim and Belo Horizonte, Brazil between October 17 to 23 this year.
Control Committee President Mr Ghaffar Derakhshandeh presided over the joint meeting, with three Technical Sub Committee members Mr Jaksuwan Tocharoen, Mr Nguyen Ba Nghi and Mr Somporn Sodthisuporn in attendance. Also joining the meeting were Referee Delegate Mr S Beny Cooghe. Press Delegate Mr Phittaya Thongkrua, VIS Delegate Ms Pawana Srithoop and Official Photographer Ms Alice Jindawanit.
The meeting began with the CC President introducing Control Committee members to the local organising committee members before the first inspection to the venues was made. The press conference room, working rooms for concerning officials as well as the internet connection had also been checked thoroughly to make sure everything gets set ahead of the kickoff of the top-flight competition on Tuesday.
“Everything is well-prepared on the right track.The venues are ready for use.There is nothing to worry about as the hosts have an experience in hosting international events successfully,” said Jaksuwan, himself the secretary-general of the Thailand Volleyball Association.
A total of 14 teams have so far confirmed their participation in this tournament. Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan have withdrawn from the competition.
The General Technical meeting will take place on Monday at the Horizon Hotel at 5pm local time. The certain number of participating teams and the fixed match schedule can be officially announced on the same day following the completion of the preliminary enquiry and the General Technical Meeting.
