Binan, Philippines, September 11, 2016 – Bangkok Glass of Thailand recovered from the first two sets down to turn back Altay VC of Kazakhstan 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 15-6) to finish third place in the “SMM” 2016 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship at the Alonte Sports Arena on Sunday.

Wilavan Apinyapong led Bangkok Glass with 19 points, while Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa added 18. Skipper Pleumjit Thinkaow contributed 17 and American import Ashley Frazier made 14.

Thailand struggled early in the match but scored more on attacks 60-54 and were more effective from the service line 13-8.

Olga Biryukova finished with 26 points for Altay VC, while Kristina Anikonova added 12 and Hayley Dora Spelman and Sana Anarkulova chipped in 11 markers apiece.

Altay VC settled for the fourth spot.
