Dizin, Iran, February 15, 2017 – Yury Bogatov and Ruslan Dayanov of Russia took the top honours at the historic snow volleyball tournament organised at Dizin International Ski Resort, the first ever competition of its kind to take place in Iran or Asia.

On Monday, TV3 provided a nationwide broadcast of the final starring Bogatov/Dayanov and Austria’s Daniel Hupfer/Peter Eglseer, that capped two exciting days of snow volleyball action.

High-ranking Iranian officials attended the final stages of the tournament held at Dizin International Ski Resort on Monday. The program got started with the semis when Hupfer and Eglseer beat David and Robert Kufa of the Czech Republic at the end of a close game lasting three sets. Bogatov/Dayanov were the second team progressing to the big final after they beat Poland’s Michal Matyja/Piotr Janiak in two sets in the second semifinal.

The conditions at Dizin International Ski Resort were ideal for the last round of matches played at an altitude of 2,650m above sea level. At the end of a closely contested final match, Bogatov and Dayanov emerged as the winners of the historic competition.

“We are very excited about the gold medal and the great tournament we played over the last couple of days,” Bogatov and Dayanov said. “Snow volleyball is definitely a great game with a bright future ahead,” they continued. The two players will now move straight to a stop of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour set to take place from February 15 to 18 on Kish Island, Iran.

The 2017 CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour will start this weekend with an event in Erciyes, Turkey and six more to follow in the Czech Republic, Turkey, Switzerland, Slovenia, Liechtenstein and Italy.
