Bangkok, Thailand, March 27, 2017- Supreme Chonburi VC edged past defending champions Bangkok Glass 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-17, 25-19) to capture their first crown at the 2017 Volleyball Thai Denmark Super League at the packed The Mall Bangkapi’s MCC Hall on Sunday.

It was a sweet revenge and fantastic comeback for Supreme Chonburi this year following their upset loss to Bangkok Glass in the finals at both Thailand League and Thai-Denmark Super League last year.

In the semi-finals earlier, Supreme had a comfortable straight- set victory over 3BB Nakornnont 25-21, 25-12, 25-12) while Bangkok Glass struggled hard to beat Nakhon Ratchasima The Mall’s VC in a hard-fought five-set thriller 21-25, 24-26, 25-17, 25-20,15-9.

Led by powerful hitters Ajcharaporn Kongyot and Senegal import Fatou Diouck, Supreme started strongly to take a commanding 11-7 lead and cruised to 20-14 before taking the first set 25-18.

In the second set saw both teams trade points until Bangkok Glass pulled away to a 8-4 lead and managed to keep control through the whole set. Bangkok Glass sealed the second set 25-21 to level 1-1.

The third set was tight from the start, but Supreme ‘s frontline was persistent on offense and defense which made Bangkok Glass find it too difficult to manage.

Eventually it was Supreme which performed much better to take this set 25-17 for a 2-1 advantage.

However, Bangkok Glass didn’t give up easily as they pressurized Supreme with effective serves to lead 10-7. A time-out was called by Supreme’s head coach Nataphon Srisamutnak and his intention to stop his sides stop the Bangkok Glass’s momentum worked out pretty well. With the tough serving and great combination plays, Supreme started to control the game through the end of this set.

Supreme closed this crucial set 25-19 to make history by capturing the Volleyball Thai-Denmark Super League crown for the first time.

“It is unbelievable for us in this season .We played well as a team and I am very happy to fight until the end for the team. I feel so great to be able to play in such a good game like this and I am very happy that we swept both Volleyball Thailand League and Thai-Denmark Super League,” said Fatou Diouck, who was awarded MVP of the tournament to receive Bt10,000 prize money.

Supreme Chonburi E-Tech will represent Thailand to compete at the 2017 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan between May 23 and 31.They have been drawn in the same pool with Iran, Chinese Taipei and hosts Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, In the men’s showdown, Nakhon Ratchasima The Mall’s VC came back from one set down to beat Air Force 3-1 (24-26, 25-21, 25-13, 25-22) for the title. Nakhon Ratchasima The Mall’s VC’s Wanchai Tabwises took home Bt10,000 cash prize as the tournament’s MVP.
