Bangkok, Thailand, May 30, 2017 – The Asian Refereeing Candidate Course, which began on May 23 at the FIVB Development Center in Thailand within the Sports Office of Ramkhamhaeng University, was concluded on Monday, May 29 with the participation of 24 candidates from 15 National Federations.

The one-week seminar, jointly conducted by Course Instructor and AVC Referees Committee Chairman Mr Songsak Chareonpong and AVC Referees Committee Member Mr Abdullah Alenezi from Kuwait, had focused on practical and theoretical training in the areas of refereeing with the objectives of helping National Federations for Category 1 and 2 with no international referees gain a better chance of preparing well-trained referees to accompany their teams in the future AVC tournaments.

More importantly, it is also expected that these candidates can obtain experience, extend their knowledge and understanding in further development programmes they will take part in the near future, and become well-qualified to get promoted to future FIVB international referees.

Those participating in the course comprised 24 candidates from 15 countries including 17 men. The participating National Federations included Bangladesh, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, Turkmenistan, Vietnam and Thailand.

In his closing ceremony, Mr Somporn Chaibangyang praised all participants for their determination and intention to learn new things and refereeing updates from the two course instructors, citing that by taking part in this course, they can get some ideas and make it a helpful source when they turn professional referees in the near future.

Mr Somporn wished all of them a pleasant back home and asked them for another return to Thailand. He and the volleyball families in Thailand are delighted to give them all warm hospitality.
