Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, May 14, 2017 – Chinese Taipei sealed their second win at the SMM 2nd Asian Women’s U23 Volleyball Championship at The Mall Nakhon Ratchasima’s MCC Hall after sailing past Australia in straight sets 25-21, 25-14, 25-20 on Sunday.
Talented Chen Tzu Ya was the top scorer of Chinese Taipei with 17 points, while Tseng Wan Ling added 7 points. Katrina Janssen and Jennifer Tait scored 8 and 6 points respectively for Australia.
“I am very happy for my team’s victory. My players are very young and we don’t have tall players in our country, so we had to play quick game. This is the first time that my players competed against tall rivals,” said Chinese Taipei’s head coach Lin Ming Hui.
“We next play Kazakhstan on Monday. I think they are much stronger than Australia. We have to play according to our game plan and try to reduce some easy mistakes. I hope we will finish among the top three in this tournament, but hopefully we will get through to the finals,” he added.
Chinese Taipei will take on Kazakhstan, both claiming straight two wins, to decide the winners of Pool C on Monday.
