Ardabil, Iran, May 4, 2017 – China, led by captain Liu Zhihao with his scintillating blocks, recovered from the first-set loss 18-25 to Pakistan to win the remaining three sets 25-18, 25-11, 25-14 at the SMM 2nd Asian Men’s U23 Volleyball Championship at the 6,000-seater Rezazadeh Indoor Stadium on Thursday.

Pakistan came up with an incredible form in the first set against much stronger China to seal the set win 25-18. After that, China made amends to capture the remaining three sets 25-18 25-11 25-14.

China will go up against Iran on Friday, while Pakistan are to challenge Malaysia.

China’s head coach Zhang Qiyong said after the match. “We watched Iran play Malaysia. I think they have problems on serves and reception. So, we can’t underestimate Iranian players as they are very strong and powerful.”
