Ardabil, Iran, May 9, 2017 – China proved too strong for Pakistan with 3-0 (25-18 25-13 25-13) demolition of the team they had already beaten in the playoff match at the round of the last eight teams on May 4 to take the 5th place at the SMM 2nd Asian Men’s U23 Volleyball Championship at the Rezazadeh Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.

Pakistan failed to make their mark in this match as China, led by devastating Rui Li, who emerged as the best scorer of the match, shone through their superb skill to take the comfortable straight sets.

China’s head coach Zhang Qiyong cited on his team’s below-par performance compared to the previous edition in Myanmar two years ago: “This is the first experience of my players here and that’s why we dropped from the fourth place we had accomplished in the previous edition and instead we finished fifth here. I hope that my team will gain a better position in the future editions.”
