Marrakesh, Morocco, May 3, 2017 – The FIVB Executive Committee met in Marrakesh on Wednesday with a particular emphasis on further improving the FIVB’s accountability and transparency practices.
“To date, we have achieved a level of accountability that has given our stakeholders more confidence in our work,” said FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° when addressing the Executive Committee.
“We have to continue to ensure that our funds are used to develop our sport and we need to subject our stakeholders to the same standards.”
The FIVB’s cost-saving measures have extended to its choice of venue for the Executive Committee and Board of Administration meetings this week with Marrakesh affording significant economies compared to a similar venue in central Europe. “We have appreciated the warm welcome we have received from Mrs Bouchra Hajij, President of the Morocco Volleyball Federation as well as the Moroccan people and are impressed with the level of facilities available to us,” said the President.
The Executive Committee received presentations from representatives of the FIVB’s nine Commissions. Proposals and recommendations will be put forward for approval to the Board of Administration when they meet on Thursday and Friday.
