Hong Kong went on their good show to clinch the third set 25-16, but Macao were just never-say-die to hit back fearlessly for the fourth-set win 25-16. In the tie-breaker, Hong Kong performed much better with solid defence and good serves to take the fifth set 15-9.

“It was not an easy game. We had a poor start. My players started nervously in the first set, while Macao did a very good job on service. Our service reception was also not good, so we could not perform well on our attacks. I told my players to keep cool and then they started to produce the goods,” Hong Kong’s head coach Cheung King Fai commented.
“I am very happy that my team finally won this match and advanced to the last eight teams. We will do our best in the next round,” he added.
With consecutive two losses, Macao have been relegated to the 9th and 11th classification round.
