The convincing 25-23 25-15 25-22 win earned Kazakhstan a rematch against Hong Kong, the team they had already beaten in straight sets in a playoff match at the round of the last eight teams. The Kazakhs will take on Hong Kong in the Sunday’s 5th-6th playoff match.

Yekaterina Sakharova led Kazakhstan with 14 points including 10 kills from 35 attempts, with Kristina Belova adding the similar 14 points including 13 kills. Low Mei Cing topscored with 19 points including 16 kills for Malaysia. Alicia Yii contributed with 4 ace serves.

After the match, Dzianis Matsveyeu said, “I’m happy for the team’s victory, but I think we still have a lot to learn from the mistakes we made in the match against the Malaysians. We next take on Hong Kong, the team we had already beaten. I’m confident that we will beat them again, but we won’t underestimate them.”
