Bangkok, Thailand, May 25, 2017 – AVC Secretary-General Mr Shanrit Wongprasert met Mr Elmurza Satybaldiev, President of Volleyball Federation of Kyrgyzstan, and Secretary-General Mr Kylych Sarbaghyshev at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday to check if all is set for the Central Asian Zonal Qualification Tournament for 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.

Kyrgyzstan will host the tournament, which is due to take place from May 26 to 28, with Kazakhstan, Pakistan and hosts Kyrgyzstan vying for the top honour and the lone berth to contest the Final Round Qualifications in Iran coming August.

Iran will host the Final Round Pool A, which comprised China, Korea, Qatar and the eventual winners from the Central Asian Zonal Qualification Tournament in Kyrgyzstan, while Pool B consisted of hosts Australia, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and New Zealand. Only top two teams from each pool will make the cut for the 24-team 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Championship Finals in Italy and Bulgaria.

Mr Shanrit said that during the bilateral meeting, the VFK President has assured the AVC that the best service guarantee promises satisfaction unconditionally for all participating teams comprising Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.

“Mr Elmurza Satybaldiev is quite certain that the three-day tournament will be a memorable success due to great supports from the Kyrgyzstan Government Authority and the AVC. Furthermore, he also has high hopes that Kyrgyzstan will obtain more chances of hosting more AVC Championships in the near future because volleyball is one of the most popular sports in Kyrgyzstan and has already hit a fever pitch with the country hosting the Central Asian Zonal Qualification Tournament,” said Shanrit, who remains in the country for competition updates.
