Ninh Binh, Vietnam, July 3, 2017 – Al Arabi Sports Club from Qatar regained their top form after powering past Al-Bahri Sport Club of Iraq in straight sets 25-22, 25-15, 25-19 in their second playoff Pool E match at the round of the last eight teams in the SMM 2017 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at the Ninh Binh Gymnasium on Monday.

Mohammed Ibrahim emerged as the top scorer for Al Arabi Sports Club, which finished second at the previous edition in Myanmar last year, with 12 points from 7 kills and 5 kill blocks, while Grozer Gyorgy added 8 points. Safaa Lafta Majeed led Al-Bahri SC with 10 points.

With the scintillating win, Al-Arabi Sports Club finished second in Pool E and will next take on the third place of Pool F on Tuesday in the knock-out quarter-finals.

“We did a good job today. It was not a tough game for us to play against them. We tried to find out our way for an important game. Today, everybody in my team got a chance to play and it is good for us. Because the tournament is long, we need to get ready mentally and physically,” German wing spiker Grozer said after the match.

“For the next round in the quarter-finals, I think it is going to be more difficult for us.We need to recover and prepare for the next game,” he added.
