Ninh Binh, Vietnam, July 4, 2017 – In-form Al Arabi of Qatar saw off Taichung Commercial Bank from Chinese Taipei in straight sets 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 to advance to the semi-finals of the SMM 2017 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at the Ninh Binh Gymnasium on Tuesday.

German Grozer Gyorgy proved again to be a great asset of Al Arabi after topscoring for the winning team with 23 points from 18 devastating spikes and 5 aces, while Mohammed Ibrahim added 13 points. Liu Houng Jie led Taichung Commercial Bank with only 8 points.

“We knew before the match that our opponents are very good at reception, so today we tried to put pressure on them with our good serves. They are one of the strong teams in this championship with an astonishing style of quick play. That was why we tried to carry out terrific jump serves to cause them a big problem, foiling their attempts to come up with fast attacks. We succeeded in our strategy today,” Al Arabi SC’s head coach Lajenef Maaouia commented after the match.

“In our semi-final match against Iran, of course it is going to be a very tough match. However, we are ready to fight all-out to win the championship no matter which team we will face,”he concluded.
