Ninh Binh, Vietnam, July 4, 2017 – Kazakhstan’s Altay VC advanced to the semi-finals after a 3-0 (25-19 25-22 25-14) demolition of China’s Beijing Baic Motor in the quarter-finals of the SMM 2017 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at the Ninh Binh Gymnasium on Tuesday.

Against the Chinese team, Altay VC, led by two Ukrainians Vasyl Tupchii and Alexandr Stolnikov, excelled in defence and had a splendid teamwork. They shone through their spectacular attacks, foiling the rivals’ high blocking efforts. After winning the first two hard-fought sets 25-19, 25-22, the Kazakhs exploded their mighty attacks for the comfortable third set win 25-14 and match.

Vasyl Tupchii topscored for Altay VC after amassing 23 points from 18 kills and 5 stuff blocks. Nodirkhan Kadirkhanov added another 10 points. Yin Jie contributed 11 points for Beijing Baic Motor including 10 kills from 23 attempts.

After the match, Vasyl said, “I’m happy with my team’s performance. Today was a very tough match for us. The Chinese team played well in the second set, but we tried to keep cool. The game will be more difficult if they won the second set. Fortunately, we stole the show to win the set.

“We next take on the winners between the Japanese team and hosts Vietnam. I admit that both teams are very strong. We have to try our best to advance to the final round,” he added.
