Surabaya, Indonesia, July 27, 2017 – Determined Vietnam put it past spirited Saudi Arabia in a close battle 24-26 25-21 29-27 25-17 at their first 9th-16th playoff match at the SMM 19th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship at the Tri Dharma Petrokimia Gymnasium on Thursday.
Tu Thanh Thuan scored a team-high 25 points for Vietnam including 23 kills from 37 attempts and Nguyen Vu Hoang added 4 kill blocks. Azouz Asaad Hesham led Saudi Arabia with 18 points from 14 kills and 4 blocks, while Omar Alnajrani contributed 12 powerful hits.
