MANILA, Philippines, August 16, 2017 — After a whirlwind campaign, Hong Kong managed to save their best for last as they blasted New Zealand 25-15, 25-12, 25-19 to finish 11th place at the 2017 AVC Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship here.
New Zealand, in effect, dropped to 12th place in the 14-team field.
Hong Kong’s key scorer Chim Wing Lam bombarded the Kiwi’s defense with 14 kills en route to her game-high 20 points.
But it was the faulty reception of New Zealand that sealed the deal for Hong Kong as they romped to 17 service aces.
New Zealand team captain Stacy Liao scored 8 points in their last game in the tournament.
