Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 25, 2017 – Indonesia proved too strong for Myanmar to tame the inexperienced rivals in a completely one-sided, 61-minute battle 25-12 25-13 25-7 to finish second in Pool A at the 29th South East Asian Games Women’s Volleyball Championship at the MITEC Hall 11 on Friday.
The convincing straight-set victory earned Indonesia a place in the semi-finals of the Southeast Asia’s top-tier competition, which they are due to next take on Vietnam, silver medallists at the previous Games in Singapore two years ago and fifth place at the recent Asian Senior Women’s Championship in Manila, Philippines.
Powerful Santini Manganang Aprilia was the lone player to score double digits in the match as she scored a match-high 18 points from 16 attacks and 2 aces. Andriyanti Novia and Siti Nurfadhilah Sugandi contributed 9 points apiece for the winning team. San Moe Moe led Myanmar with 7 points.
