Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 22, 2017 – Indonesia showed no mercy to Timor Leste by crushing the inexperienced rivals in a completely one-sided battle 25-9 25-6 25-8 to register their first win at the 29th South East Asian Games Volleyball Championship at the MITEC Hall 11 on Tuesday.

Indonesia, which stunned Asia’s powerhouses Iran and Qatar to finish an incredible fourth place at the recent Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship on home soil in Surabaya, overwhelmed Timor Leste with exceptional tactics and consistent play.

Hard-attacking Rendy Fabriant Tamamilang led Indonesia with 11 points including 9 kills from 12 attempts. Numulki Rivan and Mahfud Nurcahyadi contributed 10 points apiece for the team, with the former scoring from 6 kills and 4 ace serves and the latter 7 kills, 2 blocks and 1 serve.

Indonesia are coming much stronger this time with an high hope of regaining their pride lost to Thailand in two finals in 2011 and 2013. In 2015, the Indonesians failed to make their mark to return with a joint fourth place with Myanmar.
