Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 25, 2017 – Philippines pulled off a comfortable straight-set 25-13 25-18 25-11 victory over Timor Leste in their last pool round-robin preliminary match, but failed to make the cut for the semi-finals of the 29th South East Asian Games Men’s Volleyball Championship at the MITEC Hall 11 on Friday.

The Philippines, beaten 0-3 by Vietnam and 1-3 by Indonesia in their Pool B preliminaries, were trailing in the third place in the pool with straight two losses. They played Timor Leste in a losing effort of advancing to the next round as Vietnam and Indonesia have already booked their berths to the semi-finals with similarly consecutive two wins.

Philippines scored from Abdilla Alnakran Dalmino, who led the team with 11 points, all from his powerful hits. De Guzman John Vic Ortiz added 8 points including 7 kills, while Fuentes Reyson Lazaro had 3 kill blocks. Fernandes Serzito scored 8 crucial points for Timor Leste.
