Manila, Philippines, August 13, 2017 — Thailand escaped China 25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 23-25, 15-12 in the top 8 playoff encounter at the SMM 19th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship on Sunday at Alonte Sports Arena here.
Hattaya Bamrungsuk made 19 points for Thailand, while Ajcharaporn Kongyot and Chatchu-On Moksri each had 18 markers.
Skipper Pleumjit Thinkaow and Wilavan Apinyapong, who came off the bench, combined for 22 points in a match that took two hours and three minutes to finish.
The Asian powerhouse, which defeated Chinese Taipei in the pool stage, currently lead Pool F with a carry over 2-0 win-loss card tied with Japan.
China, which came to the quarter-finals classification round with a 0-1 record, dropped to 0-2.
Jin Ye made 19 points for China, Chen Pei Yan had 17 and Huang Rui Lei chipped in 13.
