Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 25, 2017 – Vietnam struggled to hit form in their opening set against Philippines to beat the former six-time SEA Games winners in straight sets 26-24 25-12 25-23 to capture the top spot in Pool B at the 29th South East Asian Games Women’s Volleyball Championship at the MITEC Hall 11 on Friday.

Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, who stands 190cm tall, led Vietnam with 14 points from 10 kills, 1 block and 3 aces, why captain Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa added 11 points including 8 kills from 18 attempts. Valdez Alyssa Caymo topscored 11 points including 8 powerful attacks for the Philippines.

Vietnam will next take on Pool A runners-up Indonesia in the semi-finals, while the Philippines will go up against Pool A winners and reigning champions Thailand.
