Manila, Philippines, August 10, 2017 – Vietnam showed no mercy in their 25-11, 25-12, 25-8 demolition of New Zealand to pick up their second win in the SMM 19th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship here.

Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Doan Thi Xuan led the assault as they combined for 23 of 38 kills for Vietnam.

The Vietnamese hardly had any trouble dealing with the inexperienced Kiwis, which were typified by their 11-0 blast in the third set before wrapping up the easy contest.

“Tonight, our oppositions are not so stron. It’s quite an easy match for everyone (on our team),” said Vietnam coach Hidehiro Irisawa moments after their game held at Muntinlupa Sports Complex.

Vietnam are now headed to a collision course against dominant Korea on Friday to determine who will occupy the top spot for Pool C.

But Irisawa, who is of Japanese descent, won’t get ahead of themselves as they treat their meeting with the Koreans as a learning experience.

“Korea are a very strong team and our objective is to compete and learn as much as we can,” he said.
