Al-Najaf, Iraq, September 27, 2017 – The AVC Coaches Course on Open and Opposite Spikers is being held in Kofa Club here, with FIVB-accredited Omani expert Shihab Al Riyami conducting the course from September 24 to 29.

Iraqi Volleyball Federation President Mr Munaf Fadhil Abbas presided over the opening of the six-day seminar on September 24.

“The Iraqi Volleyball Federation works hard and has an ambitious vision on breeding potential local coaches in line with the AVC programes. I appreciate kind supports from the AVC and hope that the seminar will be a great success,” Mr Munaf Fadhil Abbas was quoted as saying during the opening of the seminar.

Course Instructor Mr Shihab said: “It’s the AVC development program to promote and develop volleyball in the continent, throwing full supports in holding seminars and courses in several countries including Iraq. I’m convinced that this will help enhance coaching knowledge and get the Iraqi coaches updated with theories in coaching field.”

The course is being held theoretically and practically at the Najaf Volleyball Training Centre, with former Iraqi national players and coaches from Army, police, clubs, schools attending the seminar.

Sihab Al Riyami, who previously served as the secretary of the AVC Coaches Committee, has conducted many coaches courses, workshops and seminars across the world. He has recently conducted a similar AVC Coaches Course in Sri Lanka.
