Tehran, Iran, October 28, 2017 – Mahdi Mahdavi, the second setter of Iran who called it a day from the national team after the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, became the centre of media attention on the fourth week of the Premier League in Iran as he looked very unnatural entering the court on going bald.

One of the reasons for his retirement at the national level was that he would like to spend more times with his six-year-old daughter Golboo. Additionally, he always cares for the children and this time he showed his sympathy toward the cancer-stricken children.

He is playing for Sarmayeh Bank and is due to take part in the FIVB Men’s World Club Volleyball Championship between December 12 and 17, 2017 in Poland.

With four wins and 12 points, Sarmayeh Bank, have emerged as the top team of the Premier League of Iran. The team have already captured the Asian Men’s Club Championship for two times in a row in 2016 and 2017 and as a result, will represent Asia at the Poland-hosted Men’s World Club in December.

“We are all trying our best for the possible best performance in Poland,” Mahdi Mahdavi said. “I think, the upcoming tournament will be much harder than the Olympic Games because the world’s best players are playing in the world’s best clubs and all of them will also enter the fray there.”
