Ardakan, Iran, March 17, 2018 – Sarmayeh Bank pulled off a dramatic 3-1 victory over hosts Ardakan in the final match to capture the Men’s Super League of Iran for three times in a row.
Lower-ranked Ardakan brought wonder to the League this season as in their third ever presence in the Super League, Ardakan could reach the final round with a complete field of Iranian staff and players and without legionnaires.
Although Ardakan deserved victory, Sarmayeh Bank prevailed this “green” squad with the maximum number of national players. The competitive final match was held before around 3,000 spectators in Ardakan, with IRIVF President Ahmad Ziayee and General-Secretary Dr Mahmoud Afshardout in attendance as gusts of honour to watch the match.
Igor Kolakovic, head coach of the Iran national team with assistant Iranian Payman Akbari were also in the hall to evaluate the players in the final run which took exhausting 120 minutes.
Sarmayeh Bank played 28 matches overall to stand on top of the podium with 25 wins and 3 losses, most of their matches ended in straight sets which showed dominance of the team.
The Super League of Iran was shorter than that of the Europeans and finished in March, a week before the commencement of Iranian New Year.
