Nanjing, China, May 4, 2018 – A press conference held this morning at Jiangsu Broadcast Corporation announced that the former captain of China Women’s Volleyball Team, Hui Ruoqi will act as the ambassador of 2018 FIVB Women’s VNL Finals, which will be held at the Gymnasium of Nanjing Olympic Sports Center from June 27th to July 1st this year.


Hui Ruoqi just finished her grand wedding ceremony in Beijing on the last day of April and this is her first public appearance after the wedding.


“We have no honey moon in our plan as we are both busy,” Hui answered the media’s concern.

“Though retired, I am still very pleased to do something for volleyball and for my hometown Nanjing. I feel very pleased and honored to be the ambassador of the last edition of WGP finals in 2017 and again of the inaugural Women’s VNL Finals this year. And this year I would like to have some integration between the event promotion and my charity program. ”


The press conference also marks that the preparation for the 2018 FIVB Women’s VNL Finals has entered the countdown phase.

The VNL (FIVB Volleyball Nations League) is a brand new competition launched by the FIVB in 2018 for the top men’s and women’s national teams of the world. The women’s Preliminary Round begins on May 15 and ends on June 14 (matches played from Tuesday to Thursday). The men’s takes place from May 25 to June 24 (matches played from Friday to Sunday). All teams will compete in one table, but only five teams will progress from the Preliminary Round to the Finals and join the Finals hosts in the competition’s grand finale. Nanjing, as the host of FIVB WGP Finals 2017, has been awarded the right early this year by FIVB to host the FIVB Women’s VNL Finals from 2018 to 2020.
