TEAMS EXPECT TOUGH MATCHES AT VNL BANGKOK
Bangkok, Thailand, May 28, 2018 – Coaches and captains of hosts Thailand, Dominican Republic, Germany, and USA are all expecting tough matches and high-quality volleyball as the four teams face each other for the third round of Volleyball Nations League in Bangkok.
Dominican Republic Team Captain Niverka Dharlenis Marte Frica: “It’s always such a great pleasure to play in Thailand. We really have good expectations for our team here. There are no changes in our line-up and our goal here is to improve our performance each time more.”
Dominican Republic head coach Marcos Kwiek: We hope to win all our three matches here, but we also know that we will be facing very strong teams. We will try our best to get the victory and have a good performance.
Germany Team Captain Maren Fromm: “We really have a young team so our goal here is to get more experience during the games at this high level. We hope that we can improve every week as we move closer on the road to the World Championships.”
Germany Head Coach Felix Koslowski: It’s going to be a more difficult week for us this week as we are facing three strong teams that play totally different volleyball. This would be a great challenge for my young team; starting with USA, the team that play very fast and very good volleyball; Thailand, playing typical Asian style with lots of combination, fast play, and good defense; and Dominican Republic, who bring the Carribean style of playing with lots of emotion.
USA Team Captain Jordan Larson: “We’re excited to be here in Thailand. It’s such a great environment and we are always pleased with all the fans here. Our main focus is to strive to improve our performance going into each game and prepare for the World Championships.”
USA Head Coach Karch Kiraly: “We are excited to be here in Thailand and play against really strong teams in front of a crowd that is very knowledgeable about the sport and really excited about volleyball. This place is always a wonderful atmosphere to compete in.”
Thailand Team Captain Pleumjit Think: “This week will be difficult for us. Our opponents have showed good results during the last two weeks, but we will try our best.”
Thailand Head Coach Danai Sriwacharamaytakul: “This week is quite fortunate for us as we will be playing against three of the best teams with different playing styles: USA, ranked no. 2 in the world right now; Dominican Republic, whose players are really tall and in good shape; and Germany, a top class team in European volleyball. I hope that my players will learn and gain more experience from their kind of volleyball. We wish every team good luck in this week.”
