ASIAN MEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP KICKS OFF IN MYANMAR
Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, July 30, 2018 – The 2018 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship kicked off on Monday at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium here, with HE Mr Myint Htwe, President of Myanmar Olympic Committee, presiding over the simple opening ceremony.
Also attending in the ceremony as guests of honor were Mr Htun Myint Naing, President of the Myanmar Volleyball Federation, Dr Mya Lay Sein, Vice Minister of Health and Sports, MVF Vice President Mr Thein Win and Control Committee Chairman Mr Shanrit Wongrprasert, himself AVC Secretary-General.
All participating teams paraded into the competition venue, waiting for the official opening to come. Shortly after that, HE Mr Myint Htwe, delivered an opening speech, welcoming all participants to the Championship and informing that the Asian Men’s Club Championship has been hosted twice by Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar in 2016 an 2018 to help promote volleyball because the sport has so far gained increasing popularity in the country.
Mr Htun Myint Naing, President of the Myanmar Volleyball Federation, also gave a speech to welcome all participants. In this auspicious occasion, Mr Shanrit presented the AVC plagues to HE Mr Myint Htwe, President of Myanmar Olympic Committee and the MVF President.
After that, HE Mr Myint Htwe, accompanied by Dr Mya Lay Sein, Vice Minister of Health and Sports, MVF President Mr Htun Myint Naing, Mr Shanrit and Mr Thein Win took turns presenting souvenirs to team captains and all participating teams paraded out of the court, followed by the kickoff of the curtain-raisers between Myanmar’s Asia World Club and Turkmenistan’s Binagar.
