DIAO ON FIRE AS TITLE-HOLDERS CHINA TASTE FIRST VICTORY AT ASIAN MEN’S U20 CHAMPIONSHIP

Manama, Bahrain, July 25, 2018 – Diao Jianfei led his side with a match-high 14 points as China  tamed Saudi Arabia in straight sets to successfully break the deadlock in the 19th Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship at Isa Sport City Hall on Wednesday.

After a dismal start in this top-tier championship to go down to Iran and Korea in the pool round-robin preliminaries, defending champions China regained top form to capture their first victory following a scintillating straight-set 25-22, 25-12, 25-14 win over Saudi Arabia.

China came up with determination in an effort of making amends for the previous two losses and their firm intention paid its dividends on Wednesday when they claimed debut victory in Manama to next take on Iraq in the quarter-finals.

“We showed team skill development today and will do our best in our next matches too,” said China head coach Hang Li.

As Diao Jianfei led China with 14 points,  Yousef Aldawood contributed 8 points for Saudi Arabia.
