GTM OF ASIAN WOMEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP IN KAZAKHSTAN COMPLETED
Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, July 10, 2018 – The General Technical Meeting of the 2018 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship took place at Shiny River Hotel on Tuesday, with Control Committee Chairman and Technical Delegate Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, himself the AVC Secretary-General, presiding.
Coaches and team officials from all participating teams also attended in the meeting, which was held to check if all is set for the eight-day championship from July 11 to 18. The top-tier competition serves as the Asian qualification tournament for the 2019 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship. Only the eventual winners will make the cut for the world meet.
Nine teams confirmed their participation in the championship comprising title-holders Supreme VC (Thailand), NEC Red Rockets (Japan), Jiangsu Zhongtian Steel (China), CMFC (Chinese Taipei), Paykan (Iran), VTV Binh Dien Long An (Vietnam), Lanka Lions (Sri Lanka), Altay VC (Kazakhstan) and Garuda (Indonesia).
Control Committee Chairman and Technical Delegate Mr. Shanrit informed all participating teams necessary matters including eligibility of players and officials (team composition), while Referee Delegate Mr. Kim Kun Tae reported on the Rules of the Game to be applied, discipline on the court and match protocol.
Medical Delegate Dr. Mohammad Yonus Popalzay talked about the medical matters including the anti-doping control and court medical assistance, while Press Delegate Ms. Kyle M. Principe informed the team head coaches about the press interviews at the mixed zone.
At the previous edition at the same venue here last year, Supreme VC overpowered Japan’s Hisamitsu Springs 3-1 in the final showdown to reign supreme and represent Asia in this year’s FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, due to be held in Shaoxin, China from December 4 to 9.
