PAKISTAN AVENGE SAUDI ARABIA 3-0 IN POOL E REMATCH
Manama, Bahrain, July 26, 2018 – Pakistan avenged Saudi Arabia in a lop-sided encounter 25-13, 25-20, 25-18 in the 13th-16th playoffs at the 19th Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship at the Isa Sport City Hall on Thursday.
Pakistan had already met Saudi Arabia in the round-robin Pool E preliminary match earlier, which saw the former go down in straight sets to the latter. This victory is a sweet revenge for Pakistan that could bring back in similar three sets.
Murad Khan steered Pakistan to a straight-set win against Saudi Arabia tearing their defense into shreds with the exceptional attacks.
Pakistan will challenge Japan on Friday in the 13th-14th playoff as the Japanese cruised past India in straight sets on Thursday 25-20, 25-21, 25-13.
“I always ask my players to play with quality. Last time that we lost to Saudi Arabia, I did not see them play. We lost to Korea before getting into this match. I was happy with my players as they played better. They made a quality match in a way that they could even take a set from Korea. This makes volleyball more exciting. We will challenge Japan in our next match. I am happy that we found the opportunity in this tournament to be against many good teams that can add to my team’s experience,” Pakistan head coach Hamid Movahedi commented.
