THAILAND ADVANCE TO QUARTER-FINALS AFTER 3-0 BLITZ OVER QATAR

Manama, Bahrain, July 25, 2018 – Promising Pipat Chansuksri’s 16 points including eight attacks in a comfortable 25-15, 25-10, 25-10 victory over Qatar helped Thailand secure their quarter-final berth at the 19th Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball Championship at Isa Sport City Hall on Wednesday.

Against winless Qatar, Thailand were riding crest of confidence wave in this match. To make short work of the lack lustrous rivals, the Thai side completed their encounter just in one hour as it turned out to be a totally lop-sided affair.

“Today we focused on our blocks and serves to maximise our individual skills,” Thailand captain Danupat Jantawong said.

“I made use of the players rotation in a crucial match against Qatar. I’m thinking who will be our next rivals, Japan or Chinese Taipei. However, no matter who we will play, it will be a tough and challenging match. So, I wanted my players to rest more for a tougher task in the next match. In the preliminaries, we lost to Japan and if we happen to play them again, we will surely perform much better,” commented a confident Somboon Nakpung, Thailand coach.
