JOINT MEETING OF ASIAN GAMES VOLLEYBALL COMPETITION GETS UNDER WAY IN JAKARTA
Jakarta, Indonesia, August 17, 2018 – The joint meeting of the 18th Asian Games volleyball competition took place at the Century Park Hotel Jakarta on Friday, with Technical Delegate Mr Shanriit Wongprasert, himself the AVC Secretary-General, presiding and Mr Hanny S. Surkatty, Vice President of National Volleyball Federation of Indonesia, as well as all Control Committee members and local organisers in attendance.
The meeting was held to make sure that all is set ahead of the competition on Sunday and all problems related to the staging of the competition can be definitely solved in time before the official kickoff of the first match on August 19.
After the meeting, the Control Committee members were split into two groups for the venue inspection. The first group led by Mr Shanrit inspected the main competition hall at the GBK Tennis Indoor Stadium, while Mr Saeed Derakshandeh-led second working group checked the second hall at Pertamina Simprug Stadium.
The meeting was held again to hear the problems after the venue inspection, while information on the competition not only the match schedule, but also team’s training schedule, eligibility of players and other necessary matters were also taken into consideration.
In the evening, the VIS and Referee Clinic was conducted at the main competition hall to make sure that during competition days, matches will be run smoothly.
Furthermore, due to the different arrival time of all 31 teams taking part in the Games volleyball competition, the team preliminary inquiry had been cancelled. All matters involved the competition will be discussed during the General Technical Meeting on Saturday morning.
