KOREA MAKE A GOOD BEGINNING AT THE 6TH AVC CUP FOR MEN

Taipei, Chinese Taipei, August 8, 2018 – Korea recovered from the first-set down to pull off a stunning 3-2 (20-25 25-19 25-23 23-25 19-17) victory over Japan in the opener of the 2018 6th AVC Cup for Men at the University of Taipei (Tianmu) Gymnasium Wednesday.

Japan were once so close to the victory when leading 14-10 at the decider but they celebrated too early as Koreans performed a desperate counterattack to achieve a hard-won 19-17.

“Because team Japan is very good at techniques and tactics, we had a very difficult match today. We did not do well in blocking and lost set 1 and set 4. However, my players improved blocking timing at the end of the final set and we won the game finally. Also, we took this victory because my setter had taken good control of the game.” commented Hee-Sang Park, head coach of Korea.

Han Kukmin scored the most with 22 points all from spikes, while Takanashi Kenta led Japan with 19 points.
