AVC INTERNATIONAL BEACH VOLLEYBALL REFEREE CANDIDATE COURSE COMMENCES IN THAILAND
Bangkok, Thailand, October 1, 2018 – The 2018 AVC International Beach Volleyball Referee Candidate Course, attended by 19 candidates from 12 countries, is being held at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University in Pathum Thaini.
Thailand Volleyball Association President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang presided over the Monday’s opening ceremony of the one-week course between October 1 and 7, 2018 under the close supervision of FIVB Referee Instructor Mr Thomas Chang, himself the AVC Referee Committee member from Hong Kong China, and AVC beach volleyball Director Mr Kritsada Panaseri.Both of them have been very skilled and experienced in beach volleyball referee many years.
“First of all, I would like to express my sincere thanks to FIVB center,Thailand Volleyball Association and Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University for having this event.Without them working together,the course will not have been possible.I on behalf of all candidates would like to thank you very much,”Thomas said.
“This referee course is really important to prepare and develop the next generation of beach volleyball referees for Asia.Without this course,all the candidates cannot have a chance to go further to FIVB.They can get everything they want here and a bright future,”he added.
Also in attendance in the ceremony as guests of honour were AVC Secretary-General Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, Dr Supot Saikaew, President of Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University and Associate Professor Dr Sombat Kotchasit, Advisor to the university.
“I would like to extend my warmest welcome to the Course Director, the Course Instructor and all 19 candidates from 12 countries. I sincerely wish all of you a pleasant stay in Pathum Thani during this course. My sincere thanks and appreciation also go to the staff of Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University and FIVB Development Centre Thailand for their warm hospitality to our guests and their excellent preparation for this course,” Mr Somporn said in his welcome speech.
The course is aimed at training international referees and improving and updating referees’ knowledge and competence of beach volleyball rules according to the most recent trends of the sport. The 19 candidates from Australia, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong China, Iran, Japan, Maldives, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand will attend lectures and exercises on course before being assessed.
