CHINA CONFIRMED TO HOST 2019 AVC EASTERN ZONAL MEN’S VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP


Bangkok, Thailand, December 10, 2018 – AVC has included the AVC Eastern Zonal Men’s Volleyball Championship in China to its 2019 Calendar for indoor volleyball competitions.

Following memorable successes in hosting the AVC Eastern Zonal Women’s Volleyball Championship in 2016 and 2018, Zhangjiagang, a Chinese city located around 140 kilometres from Shanghai and along the southern banks of the Yangtze River, has been confirmed to be the host city for the 2019 AVC Eastern Zonal Men’s Volleyball Championship from July 16 to 21, 2019.

The bidding letter of Zhangjiagang Sports Bureau and the support letter of Jiangsu Provincial Sports Administration have also been sent by email to the AVC to prove that the city is on the right track to host the prestigious competition.

The AVC Eastern Zonal Men’s Volleyball Championship is a men’s international volleyball competition in East Asia. The inaugural event was contested in 1998 in Macao and tournaments have been played every two years since then. The latest two editions took place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 2015 and 2017. Japan took the lion’s share of six titles including the last two in Mongolia. Korea claimed two titles, with Chinese Taipei and China taking one apiece.
