Roi Et, Thailand, June 17, 2025 – A strong lineup of 49 teams from 16 countries including 26 men’s pairs will compete for top honors at the 6th Asian U21 Beach Volleyball Championships, set to take place from June 18 to 22 at the Nong Ya Ma Community School competition venue in Roi Et.
In addition to providing an important platform for emerging beach volleyball talent to hone their skills for future world-class events, the five-day tournament will serve as qualification pathway for the FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championships in Puebla, Mexico, scheduled for October 15 to 19, 2025. The top five federations from this Asian U21 Championships will earn direct qualification for the U21 World Championships, while an additional four federations will qualify for the World Championships Qualification Tournament.
Roi Et, a northeastern province of Thailand located approximately 451km from Bangkok, will be hosting the Asian U21 Championships for the fourth time in history, following successful editions in 2017, 2019, and 2023.
The province has a proud history of hosting major events including the 2023 FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championships and the 2022 Asian Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship, ensuring a well-organized and smoothly run tournament for all participating teams.
Of the previous five editions of the Asian U21 Championships, Australia has claimed two men’s titles, with China, Thailand, and Iran securing one each. In the women’s competition, Thailand and Australia have each won two titles, while China captured the other. Australia swept both men’s and women’s titles in the 2023 edition, also held in Roi Et.
Teams confirmed for the 2025 edition represent Australia, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Oman, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Hong Kong China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Lebanon, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, and Guam.
Hosts Thailand will field three teams each in both men’s and women’s competitions. Among them are rising stars Wichaya Wisetkan/Paphawin Manyahong, fresh from winning the SAVA U21 Championships on Sunday with a remarkable unbeaten record at the same venue.
They will headline the Thai challenge in the men’s event as top seeds, alongside Saiphirun Ruairung/Suranath Rattanapolsaen, the silver medallists at the same event.
Thailand’s women’s hopes will rest on Varagkhana Sogalee/Samitta Simarongnam, who won gold at the SAVA U21 Championships and are also top seeds for this Asian meet. Somruedee Koedkaew/Suchipha Rittila, silver medallists at the SAVA event, are also expected to be strong contenders.
Australia enters the competition with familiar faces from its 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games squad, including Cameron Zajer, who will partner Jasmine Rayner, while Matisse Conlon, a 2024 U19 Beach World Championship athlete, will join forces with Jolie du Plessis, who made her international debut at the 2025 Beach Pro Tour Futures event in Coolangatta.
In the men’s draw, Australian hopes will be spearheaded by Finley Bennett, who secured a podium finish at the FIVB Coolangatta Futures tournament in March. He will pair with Ben Carroll as second seeds for their first outing together on the international stage. Australia’s second men’s team comprises experienced 6-time FIVB competitor Harley Sinclair and promising newcomer James Kay.
The competition will feature eight pools (Pools A-H) for both men’s and women’s events in the round-robin preliminary phase. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the Round of 16, followed by quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals.

On Tuesday evening, the General Technical Meeting took place at the Silver Meeting Room of the Petcharat Garden Hotel, presided over by Roi Et Deputy Mayor Nuchakorn Maschamadol, who extended a warm welcome to all participants.
Also in attendance were Technical Delegate Mr Kritsada Panaseri, Referee Coach Ms Mariko Satomi, Medical Delegate Dr Rueangsak Siriphol and Ms Nattalida Sumdangdech, AVC Officer, Beach Volleyball Department.
All participating teams joined the meeting to be briefed on competition rules, pool assignments, and match schedules in preparation for the challenging matches ahead at Nong Ya Ma Community School courts.
Referees also joined the meeting to get update on refereeing and competition matters prior to attending the Referee & VIS Clinic to ensure everything is set ahead of the opening whistle in the first match on June 18.
The opening day on Wednesday, June 18 sees the first four matches in the men’s event kick off at 8am local time, while the first three women’s encounters will start at 10.30am.
The stage is now set for an action-packed week of beach volleyball in Roi Et, with Asia’s brightest young stars ready to showcase their talents on the sand.
