Manama, Bahrain, May 20, 2023 – Formidable Kuwait Sporting Club recovered from the second-set loss to stun Korean Air Jumbos Pro-Volleyball Club in hard-fought four sets 28-26, 21-25, 34-32, 25-23 in the 5th-8th playoff match in the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship at Isa Bin Rashid Hall 1 on Saturday.
Kuwait Sporting Club mixed the excellent offensive combination of spectacular spikes from Iranian Saber Kazemi and scintillating blocks from Najum Mahmoud Abdulaziz to take the tight first set 28-26.
Kuwait Sporting Club marched on their good show in the second set. They put their acts together, hoping to finish the match with a straight-set win, but Korean Air Jumbos turned things around to come up with quick attacks and solid defence, allowing the Kuwaitis tough times scoring. The Koreans won the second set 25-21.
Kuwait Sporting Club’s great determination was handsomely rewarded in the next two sets, thanks to the solid blocks by Omar Alenezi and Saber Kazemi. After claiming the third-set win 34-32 in the hotly-contested battle, the Kuwaitis went on their spectacular attacks and effective blocks to win the action-packed fourth set 25-23 and 3-1 match.
Kuwait Sporting Club will next battle it out with the winners between South Gas Sports Club and Bayankhongor Crownd Geo VC for the 5th place of the championship.
