NEW VNL WEBSITE TOOL TO BRING PRE-MATCH TRANSPARENCY TO FIVB WORLD RANKING POINTS

Teams and fans alike can now see how the various possible results in an upcoming game will affect the ranking points

A useful new tool has been added to the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) website to help teams and fans alike see how the six possible different results in an upcoming match would impact the teams’ FIVB Volleyball World Ranking points.

In view of how crucial the World Rankings right after the end of the VNL Preliminary Phase will be to fill the remaining vacancies at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 volleyball tournaments, this tool will add both greater transparency and more excitement to the qualification process.

A World Ranking Points tab will be added underneath each match in the VNL schedule as soon as the points that will be up for grabs become known. That is immediately after the previous matches of both participating teams have been completed, since the results of those matches affect the World Ranking Score and therefore the ranking points associated with the upcoming game. The tab is already available for previewing the points associated to those matches that will be opening all teams’ VNL 2024 campaigns.

Sign up to watch the VNL 2024 on VBTV until May 13 with the code ‘Early10’ to get 10% off.

Clicking on the new tab opens a table, which shows each team’s current position in the World Ranking, the current ranking score, and the ranking points they would gain or drop should they win by 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 or lose by 3-2, 3-1 or 3-0.

After the game, the World Ranking points won and lost by both teams will be highlighted depending on the actual score of the match. The World Ranking scores and positions of the teams will be updated post-match as well. The tab also features a link to the respective gender’s World Ranking webpage.
