Male, Maldives, July 27, 2024 – The Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) in collaboration with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has organized the FIVB Coaches Course Level 1 in the Maldives from July 27-31 and has a total of 45 active candidates to join the five-day course.
Among the participants, 13 are from India, one each from Japan, the USA and Sri Lanka, and 29 from the host country.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Deputy Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Ms Fathimath Fazula Rasheed, who thanked the VAM for their initiative to invest in the technical staff and for their commitment to developing volleyball in the Maldives.
The President of VAM and also the President of Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA), Mr. Mohamed Latheef, highlighted the importance of developing coaches and other technical officials in the development of volleyball. He emphasized that VAM gives equal importance to the development of coaches and players, and that they are working hard to elevate the level of volleyball in the Maldives.
The General Secretary of VAM, Mr Mohamed Saeed, expressed his gratitude to the FIVB for their assistance in conducting the course and for sending one of the most experienced instructors, Mr. Sridharan from India, to conduct the course. He also thanked FIVB for their continued support to National Federations.
The course aims to provide the coaches with the necessary knowledge and skills and is structured with both theoretical and practical sessions covering various topics such as player development, team strategy, tactics, and game analysis.
